Flash fiction

In class, we made flash fictions. a flash fiction is a narrative that is fast and paced. the prompts were rose, music, and chain. I think it was cool to write, but it was hard to come up with ideas.

Anna

I'm sitting in the lounge staring out the window wondering about my dead niece, Anna Rose Gilbert, who was murdered last year. Then out of nowhere, the T.V switches on. It’s a news report about a girl chopped up and murdered. This girl looked familiar to me, but I just couldn't figure out who she looked like. And that's when I instantly flash back to the day my niece was murdered.

She was playing on the swings, like all the other kids. I only turned my back for a second and she was gone! I started calling her name but she was nowhere in sight. Then I started hearing music almost like voices coming from the forest. It sounded like Anna was calling me. As I got closer, the voices started getting louder and louder. Then the voices started turning into screaming. I could hear chains chattering and I could see blood everywhere. It was all over the ground like a big blood pool. It was dripping from the trees. I looked up, there she was hanging. She had been murdered.
As I sit at her grave, I think and wonder to myself - I couldn’t protect you and now I’m next.

  1. Hi Kahu, I really like your flash fiction, I find it so sad how she was murdered. Why did you choose to do a sad flash fiction?

    Sincerely, Lesley
